Energy Efficiency
The good news is that by replacing your old and inefficient boiler, you will be helping the environment and saving money! That’s because any new boiler installed must now be an Energy Efficient Condensing boiler. These boilers operate differently to the old style of boiler because they work on the principle of recovering the maximum waste heat which is normally lost to the atmosphere from the flue of a conventional (non-condensing) boiler. The Energy Saving Trust website states that: “Using a high efficiency condensing boiler with heating controls could save you up to £200 a year. It'll also significantly cut your home's CO2 emissions as boilers account for around 60 per cent of all domestic CO2 emissions. “
On top of these important benefits for the environment, the installation of a condensing boiler may also increase the saleability of your property. Now that Home Information Packs (HIPs) are well and truly part of our house-buying / selling process, a high efficiency boiler will figure well within your Energy Performance Certificate, improving the energy rating given to your property.
